Jabs Jabs and more Jabs!

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you had a really lovely weekend. I have been very busy but unfortunately have not really done any training or fundraising which is terrible!

On Saturday, I rode my horse in the morning and then went straight off to Moreton Show to work on the Tayler & Fletcher stand. We had a lovely afternoon and all the people who came to visit us seemed really happy with what we are doing and it was lovely to see them!

I got the chance to nip down to the Royal Ag stand for the drinks reception - it was really nice catching up with people and nice to have a relaxing glass of wine! whilst on the stand I got the chance to have a chat to my tutor from College about the things I am getting up to over the next few months. Firstly, we had a chat about the trip to Peru and why I am doing it etc! Then we had a chat about RICS Matrics. As a newly qualified surveyor and having two trainees at the firm it got a bit frustrating that our local Matrics branch (for surveyors/student members who have been qualified for 10 years or less) is in Bristol. Ruth Newton, our trainee residential surveyor at the firm and I attended an RICS update course where we discussed Matrics with a member of the RICS staff - after this we decided we should set up a Gloucestershire branch for the huge amount of newly qualified and student members based in Gloucestershire! Along with Ruth and Nick the trainee rural surveyor from the Bourton office of T&F we are in the process of organising a New Members reception in November. This will be a get together where we can have a chat, find some members and helpers for our new Matrics branch and then over the next few years we will hopefully be able to hold events, networking, seminars, visits and most importantly some great APC revision sessions. Hopefully we will be able to return to College and hold some Matrics events there!

I am nearly organised for the Touch of Pink Ball now as it is not too far away! I still have about 2 tables left so if you would like a table, or just individual tickets - please please get in touch soon! The auction lots are looking great and we may have some last minute EXCELLENT lots - so if you want to bid on an item, please e-mail me with a commission bid or buy a ticket to the Ball and bid on the night! A full list of the auction lots so far are included on my website so please take a look www.cazsperuchallenge.moonfruit.com

I am so excited about the ball and have bought my lovely pink dress all ready (you don't have to wear pink - but as the host I think I should!) I think it will be a fabulous night and hopefully everyone will enjoy themselves and we can raise some good amounts of money for the two charities I am supporting!

My training has gotten off to a great start - as some of you may have already seen, in the Echo, I go running with our German Shepherd puppy Tilly. She has been a great help and is very good at pulling me up the Hills when I get tired! I run between 1.5 and 2 miles a night and have started noticing the difference - I have gone down to a size 8 already!

I had an organised moment last week and went off to the doctors to get my medical form for Peru signed by the doctor and find out which jabs I need! The nurses were a great help and kindly but surprisingly gave me my first two jabs there and then! I had a mix of my first Hep A and Typhoid - I hate injections and cannot watch or even look at the needle but I know I need them! The injection didn't hurt at all but my arm was so sore afterwards! My horse, Marti obviously knew as he took full advantage and took off with me on the gallops yesterday hoping I wouldn't be strong enough to stop him!

I have to go back in January for my Tetanus and Polio Booster and my Rabies jabs and then again just before I leave to get my second Hep A! Hopefully by then my fear of needles will have gone!!

Anyway, please sponsor me if you can - these charities really are very deserving! Just take a look at my just giving pages (I have one for Marie Curie and one for Lionheart) and donate online - it really is very very simple and quick - I mean it when I say every penny counts - you can sponsor my 1p and I will be thrilled!
